So many selfless seniors in our community work hard volunteering their time, sharing their knowledge and wisdom, and supporting their families.
In fact, grandparents in NSW give almost 11 hours of unpaid, informal care for more than 280,000 children each week.
Grandparents Day is a chance for us to recognise the important work they do in strengthening our communities.
NSW Grandparents Day is an initiative of the NSW Government. It’s an opportunity for us to thank grandparents and older people for their immense contributions to our families and local communities. It’s also a day to recognise the diversity of grandparent relationships across age groups, cultural backgrounds and geographical locations.
This year, NSW Grandparents Day falls on Sunday 28 October. There are so many ways you can celebrate everything grandparents do for you and your community. You can nominate them for the NSW Grandparent of the Year Award, or take a photo with them to enter our Grandparents Day photography competition. You can also attend one of the dozens of events happening around NSW, or take up some of the exclusive offers and discounts for Seniors Card members.
No matter how you decide to celebrate NSW Grandparents Day, I hope you have a grand time connecting across generations with your grandparents, and the other special older people in your life.

Minister for Ageing
